For the contest of 2022-2023, Choco was seeking a design that brings to life the concept of climate change: the gradual shifts in weather and temperature driven largely by human activity, especially our use of fossil fuels and their greenhouse gas emissions. The aim was to create a poster that's not only visually striking but also bring attention to this global issue.
In crafting my design, I aimed for a playful tone that still carries a thoughtful message. Inspired by the rampant materialism of our culture, I transformed a rubber ducky to resemble our planet, complete with its own barcode. It's a cheeky nod to our consumption habits, with the numbers on the barcode playfully alluding to the Earth's "expiry date" as a result of our excessive consumption.
Through typography, I aimed to convey the stark shifts in weathers, while the vibrant colors add an ironic twist to addressing such a weighty and often somber issue. This was a fun, yet challenging project while having to work on a quick deadline.
